Title IV Federal Financial Aid

Students who receive funds from the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, Federal Stafford Loan or Federal PLUS Loan and withdrew from the College are subject to the Return of Title IV Funds regulations.

Students with funds from any of these programs “earn†their financial aid dollars while enrolled. If a student withdraws prior to completing 60% of a semester, a prorated portion of the federal financial aid dollars must be considered “unearned†and returned to the federal programs. Unearned financial aid dollars which have to be returned to the federal aid programs could cause students to owe the College a significant amount upon withdrawal.

In addition to the amount of federal aid the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ must return, students who received financial aid for other educational costs, including off-campus living expenses, may be required to repay a portion of those funds to the federal programs. Failure to return aid due back to the federal aid programs will result in loss of eligibility for federal financial assistance.

Past Due Indebtedness

Students are expected to keep their accounts current. Any student with past due indebtedness is not allowed to participate in pre-registration, room lottery, registration, enroll for any subsequent semester, obtain an official transcript or a diploma. The College reserves the right to cancel the enrollment of a student with past indebtedness; the cancellation of enrollment, however, does not relieve the student of the incurred debt.

In the event an account becomes delinquent, the College reserves the right to assign the account to the credit bureau and/or a collection agency, at which time the student may be responsible for all associated collection fees, costs, and expenses incurred in such collection efforts.

Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express) and electronic check (ACH) payments may be made using our online secure payment portal. Access to this portal is available through the student’s Self Service account. The student may grant access to other individuals by providing them with their own login and password.

Notification of Financial Aid Package

How is notification provided?

The Office of Financial Aid uses electronic means to communicate with you. It is your responsibility to keep your Ringling email address current and to read messages that are sent to your email. It also is important that you keep your mailing address and phone number current with ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Records and Registration Office as we communicate through traditional means as well.

Only those students who have filed a FAFSA will receive a Financial Aid Notification Letter. For new students who have been accepted, notification letters will be mailed approximately two weeks after acceptance starting in early December. Returning students’ award notifications will be emailed starting in April each year.

The College will assume that you wish to accept all awards unless you notify us to let us know which financial aid programs you do not wish to accept. If you do not wish to accept all aid programs, please notify us in writing, preferably by email and list the program(s) in which you do not wish to participate.

We can cancel your request for a federal student loan at any time up to and including receipt of the funds at the College.

If your financial aid (grants, scholarships, and federal loans) doesn’t cover the entire bill, there are three main options:

  • You can enroll in the Monthly Tuition Payment Plan administered by the Bursar’s Office and make interest-free, monthly payments
  • You can borrow a private student loan from a commercial lender. See the lender listings on the Private Student Loan page
  • One of your parents can borrow a federal parent PLUS loan to cover your balance. See the PLUS Loan page for more information regarding this popular program.

95% of Ringling students receive aid from the College. We invite you to use our net price calculator to estimate your potential costs and awards. Use the if you are a prospective, full-time student to estimate your tuition and fees; grants and scholarships; and federal grants and loans.

Disbursement

All gift aid (aid that doesn’t have to be repaid) is applied to your bill first, meaning programs such as state grants, federal grants, and scholarships. Loan funds are then applied as follows: (1) Federal Direct student loans, (2) Parent PLUS (if eligible), (3) private student loans.

For the Federal Direct student loans, funds are sent from the government to the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business Office by electronic funds transfer. Further, most private student loans are sent from commercial lenders to ºìÐÓÊÓƵ. If there is a credit balance after all of your aid has been applied to your account, you or your parents (in case of a PLUS loan) will be issued a refund.

All financial aid (excluding Federal Work Study) is applied to your account after the drop and add period has ended each semester. The business office processes the accounts and any funding in excess of your fees will be given to you or your parents (in case of a PLUS loan) in a refund. Refunds are issued within 14 days from receipt and posting of the funds. The Bursar’s Office will notify you to come to their office on the second floor of the student center to endorse the check so they can finalize processing. It is important for you to respond promptly to their request as it will delay the processing of your refund, if you will receive one. Even if you will not receive a refund, it is imperative that you endorse your check as soon as possible as it could delay your ability to register for subsequent terms.
